Presentation and script that I used to make this project
Script Slide 1 Probably the main use of technology was making the website Weebly. Weebly is an online blogging website, which allowed me to create my own pages dedicated to the production of this magazine. In the blog I included a wide range of platforms to help show my work, such as YouTube videos (including videos that I made myself showing my work or working process, and videos that I had found to help me comprehensively explain my point). There are also links to other websites and PowerPoints embedded within my work. As well as this, there are photos and slideshows which I uploaded. I also included scanned hand drawn documents, which I converted from a PDF file to a JPEG and then uploaded to my work.
Slide 2 The photography for my magazine was all taken in the studio. This was in order to create a professional look for my magazine as I believe that this would fit the genre best. To take my photos I used the DSLR camera, Canon EOS 1300D, with a 18-55mm lens, and image stabiliser. I used 3 portable LED lights and placed them in the classic 3 light setup, which allowed me to get the correct backlighting. Reflectors were used in order to create backlighting, and created an appealing glow on the model. I used both the gold and white reflectors on the photo shoot, in order to manipulate the light in slightly different ways, to create a high production look. Lighting stands and tripods were used in order to stop any shaking and help me take the highest HD images possible.
Slide 3 While completing this project I used several different types of software. These included Adobe Photoshop, which I used for creating both my contents page and my cover page. I also incorporated it in the planning of both pages. I started off by using Publisher for my article page, however I switched over to Photoshop, in order to gain more control over the finer details. Once I completed my pages I saved them as a JPEG image, and uploaded them to my Weebly blog.
Slide 4 For my research I used Google Chrome, as I found that this was the fastest and most reliable browser. I combined different Google applications in the use of this project as well. Once I had taken all my photography I uploaded the photos that I was going to use/ wanted to keep to use to Google Photos. The reasoning behind this was that if my computer crashed then I would be able to access the majority of my photos, therefore letting me continue my work without having to retake the photos. Another reason for uploading my photos was so that I could access them from any computer.
Slide 5 Over time I started to find quicker and more efficient ways of doing things; for example, using the snipping tool (which is available on all Windows PCs) to take a photo of the certain part of the screen, rather than taking a screenshot and cropping it. Another time saving and convenient use was being able to embed PowerPoints which I had created on Google Docs. One particular advantage of this was being able to edit my PowerPoints with the updated version automatically uploading to the website. This saved the time consuming process of downloading it as a PDF or JPEG and uploading that file to the website.
Slide 6 Another use of technology which I integrated into this project was making this video. This included learning how to plan, film, edit and upload the video. I used a Canon EOS 1300D and a 18-55 mm lens to film with. I used a 3 point lighting setup in order to recreate that professional studio look and for the editing of the video I used Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12.0.
