COLOUR SCHEME
Like with the front cover I decided to keep the colour scheme the same. This is in order to keep the house style of the magazine constant and professional. I believe the colour scheme is important because it creates a style of the magazine. Colour schemes are used to create style and appeal. Also using colours that fit and work together help give my magazine a more complete and professional feel. Colours that I plan on using -

Photo 2 This photo is in the style of contemporary photography. It is a style that is often used in high end fashion magazines, such as Vogue. The body language of the model displays confidence. As well, the use of the high heel as a phone engages the reader, encouraging them to ask questions, as well as reading the article to find out more. |
Photo 4 I like this photo because of the model's pose. The body language of the model is engaging to the audience. It also works well with the Tagline that goes with it 'Enhanced Elegance Helena Hanna’s new look'. Like she is daring the audience to keep her new look a secret. The use of the jacket adds extra texture to the photo. |
Basic layout for the magazine
First I started out by creating a very rough draft of how the page would look, by using blocks of text in place of the articles. This was the first plan for the contents page, with the basic layout. The idea was to have the background image fill the whole page. Since the style of my magazine was high end fashion, such as Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, I decided to try and keep the magazine simple and elegant looking. Therefore I feel that it will fit nicely within the codes and conventions of high-end fashion magazines. |
Basic layout plan (of new design) This is the new layout for my contents page. I feel that this layout is more up market and high end design. I have split the page into 5 main sections. The band at the top where the masthead goes, is always going to be the same. The other 4 sections will be where the text goes, with the image going on the top left hand side. House style - the contents page is one of the most important parts of the house style, therefore I believe that this layout will help keep the house style constant across different issues of the magazine. |
version 1
Here I added in the storylines. I also chose a new image to put in. I chose my second photo for the contents page for the reasons that I mentioned. I also chose only to put one image on the contents page, in order not to distract from the main article. I feel that the text fits much better on the page. I can fit everything in, without the text looking out of place or squished up. |

Version 3
Due to self and peer review, I came to the conclusion that I could improve upon my contents page. I decided that my 'Cover Stories' and 'Also in this Issue' looked clunky and bulky. I felt that this decreased from the overall image, causing it to be below the professional standard that I was aiming for. Thus I decided to do something about it. What I improved -

Final Version I felt that the last version could be the final version as I thought there was not much more that I could improve upon. However, with analysis I felt that the background could be improved. What I changed -
